The OCEANS North America conference and exposition returns to the exciting and historic Washington, DC area, bringing together scientists, engineers, educators, industry leaders and policy makers. Four days in October 2015 will be packed with technical presentations, tutorials, workshops, networking opportunities and an exhibition highlighting state-of-the-art developments in technologies related to exploring, monitoring, protecting, and wisely using the world’s ocean resources. Over 2,500 attendees, with a broad international representation, are expected.
On behalf of the Marine Technology Society and the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society, the OCEANS ’15 MTS/IEEE Washington, DC Local Organizing Committee is honored to invite your participation in this prestigious event. This year’s theme, “Sea Change: Dive into Opportunity,” will shine a bright light on some of the most critical issues the world faces today and how our community can help society develop solutions to address their impacts and benefit from new opportunities.
We’re extremely fortunate that Rep. Sam Farr and Dr. Rick Spinrad, two such notable figures in the ocean community, have agreed to serve as Honorary Co-Chairs. Their knowledge and experience in marine technology and policy will help us plan an outstanding program.
The Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, with modern facilities located directly on National Harbor is the perfect venue to attract a strong local attendance from ocean-related industry, US government agencies, NGOs, the military, and students. And for those coming from outside the metropolitan Washington DC region, there will be easy access to explore the many historic and cultural places and activities in and around the US Capital. We encourage you to bring your families and enjoy Washington and OCEANS ‘15.
