A new paper previewed in the journal Interactive Zoology shows that giant pandas migrate seasonally between high and low elevations. The researchers say that their work “improves our understanding of how the mechanisms of environmental heterogeneity and scale modify the spatial behaviors of large mammalian herbivores, particularly endangered specialists that range widely within reduced, fragmented or degraded habitats.”
